What’s the plan?

We are collaborating with Women’s Bouldering Festival for a new edition of the Setter Showdown.

Their annual event would normally take place in the forest of Fontainebleau, but due to the fires there this year, the event has been called off. They typically do an annual setting workshop which would be near Font, but we are hosting that at Rise this year so it can still go ahead.

Over 2 days, the setting teams will build and workshop blocs all over the ground floor for us and you! We invite you down to climb them and judge them, and those setters will get immediate feedback!

It’s a Rise classic!

• Setters set the blocs

• We label them up

• You score them!

• That’s it!

Who

The workshops will be run by Nat Bell and Jacky Godoffe

Nat is a World Climbing (IFSC) routesetter, national headsetter, climber, and co-founder of BlackBox Boulder Gym in Belgium.

Jacky needs little introduction, but is a legendary French climber, international routesetter, and teacher. Jacky is responsible for pioneering many hard lines

Talk

While we count up scores for the boulders we will also be hosting a talk from the leaders of the workshops, and Marie Uri

This talk will bring together climbing, creative inspiration, as well as best outdoor practices in Fontainebleau and beyond

Nat, Jacky and Marie will explore their experience as outdoor industry professionals and community organisers, and perhaps even quiz you on some Fontainebleau knowledge
