Step-Free and Wheelchair Access

There is a ramp outside the centre to access the main entrance and the ground floor climbing.

As well as approx. 60% of the climbing space in the centre, the ground floor also contains reception, café, toilets, shower, changing rooms, and lockers.

The first floor climbing area and gym is only accessible via two staircases, one on each side of the building, both made up of two flights of stairs.

Public Transport

Closest underground station: Canning Town Underground Station - Jubilee line, DLR & local buses (routes 5, 69, 108, 115, 147, 300, 309, 323, 330, 421, 474

Closest bus stops: Jude Street - bus routes 147 & 474, George Street - bus route 330, Brunel Steet - bus routes 147, 330 & 474

When you arrive at the Canning Town Underground Station, the best exit to take is for the bus station. The centre is approx. a 7 minute walk from here. The walk is mainly via a pavement alongside the dual carriage, with pedestrian crossings at traffic lights.

Cycle Parking

Cycle parking is directly outside the main entrance of the centre, and is clearly visible from the reception desk. There are Sheffield bike stand which you can lock bikes to.

If you are particularly worried about leaving your bike locked up, we should have space to put it in the back for you - just ask at reception when you arrive.

Car Parking

Rise Climbing is in a restricted residents’ parking zone weekdays and Saturdays 08:00–18:30. During these times, you can pay for up to a maximum of 2 hours parking via PayByPhone on Caxton Street North, Nelson Street or Tarling Road. Outside of these times, parking is free.

There is blue badge parking on Caxton Street North.

Facilities

Toilets

Toilets are all in private cubicles with floor to ceiling walls and doors. The toilets are all gender neutral and are on the ground floor.

There is an AWC toilet on the ground floor.

Showers

A gender-neutral shower is on the ground floor. 

Please bring your own soap/shower gel/shampoo and towels.

Changing Rooms

Changing rooms are gender neutral with private cubicles and are available on the ground floor.

Lockers

Lockers are on the ground floor. Please bring your own padlock if possible. If you do not have your own padlock or forget don’t worry as we have a limited number of padlocks available to borrow (for free) from the front desk.

Card Only

Please note that we are a cashless facility, so all payments will need to be made via your card, or digital phone wallet.

Food & Drink

We have a small café on-site which servers specialty single origin coffee (supplied by local coffee roasters Union), tea, hot chocolate, cold drinks, snacks, cheese toasties, noodle pots, and fresh pastries (supplied by Charles Artisan). Please note pastries are only available on weekends.

We have a fully licensed bar and serve, beers, wine, and cocktails - the frozen margaritas are especially popular!

Please note, no alcohol can be consumed while climbing, or supervising an u18 while they climb. Alcohol is very much an after climbing refreshment!
